60mb upgrade

Yesterday I got upgraded to 60MB internet and the engineer said it would take up to 24hours until I get them speeds. But now it has been 24hours and the best speed I can get from the wireless is 10-12mbps and from the wired connection I can get 30mbps. Is there anything I could check on the superhub it self to make sure its working properly.

Complete and utter rubbish! You should get the correct speeds as soon as theyve sent the new config through. Mine was upped from 10 to 60 yesterday and I instantly started getting 60 meg while the engineer was still here.

I see your upload speed is correct. Try rebooting the modem again, and if your using your own router, remove it and try connecting the superhub straight into the pc to eliminate your router as the problem. For the record Im running my superhub in modem mode with my own buffalo 300Mbps N router.

Cheers

your on 60meg.

when testing max speeds do it via ethernet not wireless. try > www.speedtester.bt.com/

whats the specs of your wired desktop system? and laptop?

download inSSIDer onto a wireless capable device/laptop and run the program. itll scan for all reachable networks. note which channel each uses then set your network to use a channel that isnt in use. the channel numbers will range from 1-13.

Re: 60mb upgrade

Downstream power could be a little better, optimum is above -3 dBmV, but I dought thats causing the low speeds since your well within tolerance.

I have been monitoring the quality of my broadband since this morning and so far it is this.

https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2012/04/86.png

I think the big red lines are when I turned my router off to change settings but im not sure.

Re: 60mb upgrade

the red is inactively pinging the IP.

did you get a USB adapter ordered via VM 150/151 ?

Re: 60mb upgrade

I am waiting for my parent to finish work as he is the account holder and will aks them about the speed issue and for the usb adapter as two laptops in the house are also getting download speeds of 14-25mbps.

I also tried to connect my old wireless router to the super hub which used to connect to my old modem but that made no difference in speed.

Phoned virgin and after talking to about 4 people and them trying to charge me £30 for an adapter I got it for free and it should arrive next week.

You're not going to get full speed with a 54g wireless adapter. If you get much over 25 you're doing well.

Re: 60mb upgrade

I was upgraded from 10mbps to 60mbps about 2 weeks ago and have had no issues at all. I use the superhub in modem only mode hooked up to a d-link DIR655 which I've had for about 4 years and its been as solid as a rock.

On wireless my kids get around 18/22mbps on their laptops (802.11g). The highest wireless I've had on my iMac is 57mbps (802.11n) but l keep that on a wired connection which usually achieves around 62mbps.
We also have 2 360's on wired and various other wireless devices.

All is good so far.

Got sent a superhub yesterday to upgrade to 60meg, going to give it a try in router mode, if it fails will probably put my vmng back in, my area only has 4 d/s channels anyway

craigj2k12 15-04-2012 21:41

Re: 60mb upgrade

you dont need a superhub, VM arent requiring you to get rid of the VMNG

You should be able to get the same 62mbps you get wired over Wireless if you have a decent N router.

Im using the superhub in modem mode with a buffalo airstation N router and can get a solid 62/63mbps Wireless on my laptop.

Cheers
