Confused gran who accidentally drove 300 miles

Is just me or should this lady be advised by either the police or her family that she should think about returning her license to DVLA. In my opinion anyone who is unable to get off the road and turn back in 300 miles should not be driving. Goodness knows where she could have ended up, as she only stopped because she ran out of petrol  Well done to the couple from Larkhall who came to her aid. |

Whilst older drivers are far from the top of the league table for accidents, I do think that more needs to be done to ensure they are in good enough health to do so safely. The problem comes when someone decides they're not and for many old people that will be a major problem given the costs of getting around and maintaining any sort of independence. It's a really difficult problem. |
Re: Confused gran who accidentally drove 300 miles
I think the OP is right in that she should seriously consider relinquishing her licence.
It's the confused that finally go the wrong way on a motorway and kill people. Quote:

I'm driving, wife is looking at the map/road atlas and 'navigating'. We are nearing our destination: I say (a bit confused) "let me know when we pass the road before the road that we need to turn into" (so that I've got a bit of warning before the turn) She says: "How will I know?" I say: (getting a bit more exasperated) "look at the next roads name that we pass, then you will know where we are relative to where we are going" She says: "How will that tell me where we are?" I say: "You're holding the <expletive> map" She says: "I can't read the road names on the map while I'm holding it upside down and if I turn it round I won't know which way we are going on it" and that's when the argument started.......:banghead: :D ---------- Post added at 16:13 ---------- Previous post was at 16:10 ---------- Quote:

I'm an expert at following signs :D but that is thanks to the Raith Interchange, trust me getting to Monklands hospital is a utter nightmare atm. Anyone who knows this area will agree with me.
