trophy on ps3 games

hi all im just been playing gta on ps3 and i see that you can get trophy on it now but it says i got 0 does that mean i have to start the game again to get some of the trophys

TBH there a usless waste of time anyway imo. I know some people like trophys and gamescore etc etc but I just dont see the point in it myself.
