what will I be getting?

I was on 10meg bb and rang up on Friday to see if I could get a better deal as I looked online and saw the 30mb was the same as what I was paying for 10mb.

I spoke to a really nice guy and he said as we had been with VM for 7 years I could get 60mb for an extra £3 a month and then next year it would double the speed for free.

I said great as I was only expecting to get about 30mb, he said he would send me out the superhub for this Wednesday coming.

I then spoke to a friend who use to work at VM and he said the area I'm in I will not get 60mb but only 30mb and would not get 60mb until some time in 2013???????

Is this correct? just sounds like I have been miss sold this package, Also I'm I best keeping my D-link router I got from VM and having the Superhub as just the modem?

Thanks

thats confusing. id call back tomorrow and speak to retention/thinking of leaving to double check whats been agreed.

the agents told you 60meg now which can be pushed now but says youll get another double next year. thats wrong. if you end up on 60 now youll stay on it as youll be given 60 before the dated rollout for your area. its like his said youll get 60meg twice. or incorrectly implied 60 now, 120 next year when your areas dated for a double.

and yes modem mode linked to you 615 will do you nicely.

I'm not up on packages and deals, but I thought 60Mb was doubling to 120Mb, so the agent could very well be correct.

60Mb is ready everywhere, 120 isn't.

30Mb doubles to 60Mb.
50Mb doubles to 100Mb and then increases to 120Mb when available.
100Mb increases to 120Mb when available and drops in price.

Before the speed doubling announcement there was no 60Mb product to double...

Re: what will I be getting?

60 is not doubling to anything. 60 is what you get AFTER being doubled FROM 30. There is no further increase for those on 60mb.

People previously on 50 are getting doubled to 100, then both are being increased to 120.

I was told exactly the same thing on Sunday.

I also get my superhub installed tomorrow. Have been told it's 60meg and will get doubled to 120meg sometime from October 2012.

How do you check if your area can only handle 30meg and not 60meg?

60Mb is 30Mb doubled. It will NOT be doubled to 120Mb!

If my area is not updraged to doubled speeds until 2013, does this mean I will not get 60mb until 2013?

So I get my superhub tomorrow - not only do I not get 120mb when it's doubled, I also won't even get the 60mb that I was promised tomorrow?

Why is it this confusing?

you'll probably get put on 60meg early and you'll stay on it.

Thanks. I could live with that. Lets hope that is the case.

BUT! your areas in for an upgrade next year so its up the area if you'll get upto 60 Depending on your local load/capacity etc.

Re: what will I be getting?

10Mb and 20Mb are going to 30Mb

30Mb is doubling to 60Mb

50Mb is doubling to 100Mb and eventually it will be 120Mb

and 100Mb is going up to 120Mb.

So in the end there will be three tiers of service. 30Mb, 60Mb and 120Mb

Capacity has been rubbish so far in 2012. I have had real issues with my 10mb. It's been around 1mb for the most of the year . I've been compensated for this.

Hope it is now fixed and I can get 60mb. I'll report back tomorrow.

I think this highlights a clear need for the agents in Scotland to be told that 60MB will not be doubled to 120mb.
