List of web browsers for you all
Ok i thought i would list the most common web browsers talked about here so that people can just click on the links and be taken directly to the websites to download them.

Re: List of web browsers for you all
http://www.offbyone.com/ a rather odd browser, somewhat backward in capability, but sometimes works where a site disagrees with IE and content blocker settings, by making it fall back to the lowest common denominator.
Can also be useful as a basic (but safe) HTML viewer. There is much that it CAN'T do, and at times, that can be its biggest plus point. |

Re: List of web browsers for you all
Crazy Browser is simply an IE skin. It's highly disingenuous of those of type of things to claim they are 'browsers' in their own right when they are not.
All the IE security flaws will still be present in such things, yet people are often conned into thinking they must be safe as they don't use IE. For Windows users, the only REAL, viable alternative browsers are Firefox, Mozilla, K-Meleon, Netscape and Opera. And even then, it could be argued that Firefox, Netscape and K-Meleon are not browsers in their own right either, but simply Mozilla skins. |

I don't happen to believe that view myself. But in the same way, they aren't entirely 100% different browsers either, by virtue of the common rendering engine. Though I prefer Firefox, Opera has no such issues, it's 100% individual. |

Ok, heres a question for you all....which browsers are 64bit?
I tried 'Deer Park' alpha (firefox 64bit) and while it was fast, it didn't allow my mouse to use all of it's functions. atm, I'm using IE 64bit and it's blistering but it still looks pants and doesn't have the functionality of FF. Any other ideas? :) |

IE has dodgy CSS support, is quite insecure, and by modern standards it outdated. A lot of browsers now have pop blocker, tabs and search. Most of these issue are going to be fixed in IE7. Otherwise IE is an awful browser. |

As for websites not displaying properly on FF, well, that *is* bad coding on those sites. You appear to be assuming that everyone views the web on a PC. While most people do, not everyone does. A lot of people view the web on their mobiles, or handheld devices (such as Playstation Portables or PDAs) attached to wireless networks. I haven't even mentioned the people who view the web through their TV, or the blind who may need to use adapted browsers (a site that relies on special IE features won't work well with screen readers. I also haven't mentioned that sizable number of user who dare to use an Operating System that is in competition to Windows (MacOSX, Linux and other Unixes). anyway, I have to admit, I agree with you in one way, I don't like Firefox myself. I personally prefer Opera. |
Re: List of web browsers for you all
You ever tried making a website with CSS? They look different in firefox than they do in IE. ! The code is fine, works in FF, Safari, Opera and then IE comes to mess it up.
Code that only works in IE means very bad code. |

anyhoo you're missing one of the best browsers going! Sea Monkey. http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/ Its an evolution of the full mozilla suite, with all functionality there and less bloat. It also has a very handy feature of having an auto systray function which allows it to stay partially in memory for quick launching. Netscape 8.1 is also very good, it should be noted that there is a vast difference between netscape upto version 7.x and 8.x onwards |

Now it's saying that if I do not do somthing about it soon my machine will be corrupt and damaged. All I can say is MODZILLA IS A PILE OF **** and anybody that recomends it does not know what they are on about, oh and dap 8 is not compatable with FF, another lie. All I can say is KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT BEFORE DISHING OUT ADVISE. I have now uninstalled FF and im doing my best to uninstall spyfalcon, it keeps coming back all the time when I try to get rid of it. All I can say is I wish I stuck with my own instincts and stayed away from that modzilla rubbish. And yes, I got it through a link on this board. I AM ANGRY AND I MAY HAVE TO REINSTALL WINDOWS. |
Re: List of web browsers for you all

DAP 8 is- according to their own website- compatible with firefox, so perhaps before you accuse forum members of lying you should check that you know what you are talking about. Oh and Spyfalcon is not a Mozilla program- a little research before you installed the software would have told you this. |

You're less likely to pick somthing up under firefox but it is still possible and should not be taken for granted that its 100% safe. Nothing truely is.
If you google for your known problem with the word remove, with it your bound to find how to get rid of it for good http://www.infopackets.com/channels/...structions.htm thats the first result though i dont know the source so dont trust it as gospel |

As for your gripe, there are several disclaimers concerning the use of 3rd party extensions in Firefox, you seem to have fallen foul of a bad one - it is not the fault of the whole Mozilla project, whose aims you may have mis-understood, open source is just that.... - and links 'on this board' are given 'in good faith', the admins have no liability for checking their authenticity- you do ;) |

Doesn't change the fact that it was some third party program that you still haven't identified. One wonders why that is; at least you should warn other users where not to go, if not even tell the nice folks that might be hosting the malicious extension. For what it's worth: I installed getright for my downloads. |
Re: List of web browsers for you all
I have been using firefox for several years, but recently have been giving SeaMonkey a go, and like keithwalton said, it does exactly what it says on the tin. Impressed at the moment, an all-in-one package, and once setup works very well. All my add ons from Firefox work, even the email client was easy to setup. So if you want a package that does it all give it a go.

64-bit FF2, also known as "Bon Echo" can be downloaded from here. Been using it for a while now, and it seems a little snappier - but I think the major advantage is better security against spyware and all that mumbo jumbo.
It's self extracting but doesn't create icons, so you can install it away from your x86 FF and it won't effect it. It'll simply read your normal profile and should load it without any troubles :) |
