Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread
Lewis has just equalled Ayrton Senna's 65 poles.
The Senna family has just given him one of Senna's actual race helmets, he was shaking. |
Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread

Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread
Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel could face further punishment for his collision with Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Governing body the FIA is to hold a meeting on 3 July to "further examine the causes of the incident to evaluate whether further action is necessary". http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/40431244 Hopefully it will be a ban. Lewis has been proven 100% NOT to blame. |
Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread
No further action to be taken against Sebastian Vettel.
Personally i think it is a load of bollocks! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/40488056 |
Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread
Ferrari International Assistance to the rescue again.
Well if we lose the British GP I'll stop watching now. |
Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread
Have to goad Seb into losing his cool at the next race
|
Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread
A pathetic decision as Vettel knew exactly what he was doing...

Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread
Well looks like 2019 will be mine a the Britsh GP last season.
No British GP, I'll not bother. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/40518666 |
Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread
Hamilton given 5 place grid penalty for an unauthorised gearbox change, he finished 3rd but will start from 8th in Austria.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/40535533 And according to the gossip columns, Mercedes looking to ditch Bottas at the end of the season and replace him with some unknown Spanish driver called Fernando Alonso. Oh no, wait, they drove together at McLaren. If that move DOES happen, then the real fight won't be between Mercedes and another team, it will be who is more aggressive out of Fernando and Lewis. |
Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread
2019 last British GP, after the owners announce they will be activating their break clause in 2019.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/40566434 Any other tracks well equipped to handle the GP? |

Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread
Looks like they may be hoping for a renegotiation.
Only other circuit that comes to mind is Brands Hatch, which hosted F1 some time back, but may well need significant alterations for the modern era. |
Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread
There's no track capable of bringing F1 there without significant losses via needed alterations, none of which could afford it and that's without noting they can't make a profit on the race itself.
At the current cost the British GP can't be hosted anywhere without a different funding source. Governments and Arab businessmen are throwing their money at other track hosts. Silverstone any other track in the UK has no such luxury. I have to back Silverstone on the decision. You can't keep hosting a race in which you're doing deeper into the red as the contract rolls on. If Liberty Global want F1 to descend to the same levels of FIFA then let them. Baku is a horrible track, an opinion not just confined to myself but money talks. If Silverstone can't get a profitable plan from a renegotiation then it'll just continue F1's trend towards the big dollar, something that's been annoying me since Sky were allowed to purchase up the TV rights despite Channel 4 being in the running. |
Re: 2017 Formula 1 Season Thread
A Formula One season without a British GP would be a crying shame IMO.
