1) QVC HD will not broadcast to next year.
2) Pick TV +1 was on Freeview before Sky removed it last October.
3) Bio HD, Cartoon Network HD, CI HD, Disney HD. Disney Cine HD, Disney XD HD, ESPN America HD, MTV HD, Nick HD, Universal HD, CBS Drama, Comedy C Extra - all may appear when deal is up.

MGM HD, NHK SD and HD, Sky Sports HD 3,4, Sky Sports F1 HD, Horse and CO, Travel Channel, Bliss, Channel AKA, Chart show tv, Clubland tv, Dance Nation tv, Flava, Greatest Hits, Massive r and b - all unlike to launch on Virgin.

Premier Sports, ITV HD Channels, Sky Atlantic - Talks are ongoing.

andrewstevenson 19-02-2012 22:57

So we are informed that MGM HD, NHK SD and HD, Sky Sports HD 3,4, Sky Sports F1 HD, Horse and CO, Travel Channel, Bliss, Channel AKA, Chart show tv, Clubland tv, Dance Nation tv, Flava, Greatest Hits, Massive r and b - all unlike to launch on Virgin( from media boy ) that is worrying that we are unlikely to see them on virgin media

MB why do you suggest that VM may have to wait for deals to expire, before adding new channels from the same supplier:confused:

andrewstevenson 19-02-2012 23:00

Now in relation 2

1) QVC HD will not broadcast to next year.
2) Pick TV +1 was on Freeview before Sky removed it last October.
3) Bio HD, Cartoon Network HD, CI HD, Disney HD. Disney Cine HD, Disney XD HD, ESPN America HD, MTV HD, Nick HD, Universal HD, CBS Drama, Comedy C Extra - all may appear when deal is up. From media boy

Point 3 we should have got CBS drama rather than CBS action. If they are all under one deal, do virgin say when contract up for renewal and is nick hd not a sky exclusive

I can only think either it's the rules or they can hang out for a better price rather than tv company losing out at last minute

Yes I know, and I have always sung VM's praises, I thought Tivo would be the boost VM needed, but without the extra channels/content Tivo is crying out for, I just feel like VM is getting left behind in a big way.

Also with my viewing habbits these days, I tend to watch HD channels, and have got used to seeing TV in HD.
Theres a few shows I watch on sd channels on VM, which have HD versions on sky and with not much chance of getting the channels, I'm starting to think about changing. I just like a good quailty picture on my bigger screens.

Well everybody is entitled to move where they see fit as at least one thing we do have in this country is freedom of choice and we sure ain't letting anybody take that away from us.:)

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2012) Vol. 1

Sky Atlantic HD, Sky Sports HD 3,4 and Sky Sports F1 HD are all exclusive to Sky and if you really want them you really should subscribe to Sky as they are always going to have that edge over VM and most VM subscribers accept and understand this. Sky will always want a level of exclusivity to keep a competitive advantage.

Get a feeling VM will do a deal for Sky Atlantic SD very soon but as regards the rest there is very little which has any significant viewing figures and are of any interest.

Perhaps ITV2,3,4, HD, Bio HD, Universal HD, CBS Drama are of interest to me, the rest are irrelevant.

We know talks are ongoing on ITV 2,3,4 HD and much more relevant now with the increasing use of these channels for sport.

So as I see it, if VM do a deal on Sky Atlantic SD and ITV 2,3,4 HD there really is not much else of any significance.

We all have our own preferences no doubt and others would like other channels I am sure but this is really getting down to the specialist interest area.

NHK SD and HD, Horse and CO, Travel Channel all have low numbers of viewers.

MGM HD, is 98% own by Sky.

Sky Sports HD 3,4, Sky Sports F1 HD, are only for Sky Viewers.

Bliss, Channel AKA, Chart show tv, Clubland tv, Dance Nation tv, Flava, Greatest Hits, Massive r and b - We have Music on Demand if we want music.

If NTL and Telewest were seperate, then it would have been even harder to compete with Sky!

It has been clear that all the UK Cable companies would all merge together and (bar Cumbria/Scottish Borders and The Isle of Wight) since 2006 that has been the case!
