View Full Version : Free MS update CD
For those not aware you can now get windows security updates on a cd FREE from Microsoft. It's current to Oct of 2003 and will make it easier to rebuild your system when and if needed. Faster than trying to download them over a dialup.

great link, but I get this at the end of it ?
Weâ₠¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢re sorry, but there is no Microsoft.com Web page matching your entry. It is possible that you typed the address incorrectly, or that the page no longer exists. You may wish to try another entry or to use the links below, which we hope will help provide you with the information you need.
It works fine for me. I have just ordered one to save me downloading all the updates again with my 56k.

Well I actually got mine today & looking it is full of updates for XP,2K,98/98SE till February2004.
Also an extra disk with a years free trial of Etrust EZ Armor LE from CA which I assume is the AV/Firewall product.
However, being connected to the web & using autoupdates I am assuming that I am covered beyond that on my XP PC, but the 98SE one could most likely use it.

I allways feel sorry for dial up users. When I have to re-install a 98 computer it takes a good 20mins on the broadband. I shudder to think of how long it would take on dail up !!!!

check the CD out, its not quite for a whole year, AFAIKR its only til september.. let us know if you find out any difference.
I tried installing it on 98SE & it wanted to upgrade IE to 6, Directx9, MEdiaplayer9 etc so I stopped it before it got too far.
I dont want those on my system, hogging up too much of my resources so I will have to look at individual security updates later instead.
