I dunno about the QRIO, but the Aibo allows very limited interaction (you can throw it's ball, sing to it, give it voice commands etc) so I would have thought the QRIO would as well.

I think we are a long way off robots like those shown in SciFi though (a couple of hundred years at least).

Wow, thank's for pointing that out scastle. I wanna work with robots when I grow up :)

If you thought that was interesting, take a look here (http://cyberboticspc1.epfl.ch/contest/index.php) , the robots are modelled on those sony ones. Only simulated I'm afraid, those sony ones are pretty expensive.

More of a corporate showpiece than an actual product (on the market it would fetch about as much as a BMW)

Forget the car, I'll be asking the bank for a robot loan :)

I just found the Honda "Asimo" website. For those that don't know, "Asimo" is Honda's walking robot. It is larger than the Sony one.

Anyway, for the Asimo site, go to http://world.honda.com/ASIMO/. You'll get details of the history of the project, technology involved, and quite a few demo movies.

The Sony QRIO site is at http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/QRIO/top.html and has some info on QRIO, and, if you can find them, more movies.
