Is there an easy way to change the default search engine in IE for XP, like the one that existed for W98. That was Tweak UI general tab. The only source I can find involves manually changing registry settings, which I am not confident with.

Hi

As well as what webjunkie says above.

If you go to the Google website there's an option to make Google your default. This is how I have mine set up.

I can't find preferences (where is it?) but found customise search engines. When I tried to change the search engine of my choice, I cannot remove MSN or add any info either. Where am I going wrong, please.

I'm using IE6 with XP (SP1) and cannot see 'change preferences' either. Strange thing is, there is still a reference to it. If you click on 'search', then 'custom', then 'Use Search Companion', you will get the message "To open Search Companion and change it's settings, click Search on the Internet Explorer toolbar, and then click Change Preferences."
