Do you know whether NTL support ASP with MS Access databases. If not, are you aware of any equivalent method of accessing db's through NTL. Failing that, can anyone recommend a good (free) isp that does provide this service.

Incidentally, I spoke to NTL customers services who stated that they do support ASP as long as it wasn't used for business purposes (fair enough), but they couldn't answer all my questions so gave me the tech support number. This techy guy just grunted - "No we don't support that" and hung up.

Can't find anything on the NTL website about what it supports so am sure I will have to move ISP's

Any advice greatly received.

Cheers

The host of this site could be a port of call. Send a PM to KingPhoenix for more info.

NTL don't support the hosting of any kind of server side applications/databases on the 55MB of free webspace that comes with the residential package. If you want to know about business packages you'll need to ask someone else. But my advice would be to find a webhost that supports this (don't think you will find a free one, if you do, let me know). I don't think i-web supports ASP but check this KingPhoenix.
Unless you really have to use ASP I would highly recommend you use PHP and MySQL instead.

ASP is :batty:

Yep, static HTML only I'm afraid which means:
HTML, CSS, Javascript and images but no PHP, ASP or Perl.

Perhaps you can explain why this customer was given this (totally incorrect) information then?

It can only be lies or BS I'm afraid, if the CSR/associate didn't know then they should have just said so & found someone who does know, not lie/BS to get the customer off the phone-simple really. :)

Unforuntatly I-Websolutions don't support ASP or Access databases.

No need to move ISP, just need to find a web host, tons out there (thats a problem!)

If you just need a starter, you can get a free hosting account at http://www.brinkster.com that will allow ASP & Access databases. The free account is okay, sometimes a little slow, but fine for testing etc.

I would recommened http://www.creativesell.com. They are fantastic to me! Very, very good service and based in the UK (though hosted from the US). Email for a quote if their pre-built packages dont suit.
