The CN Tower in Toronto is the world's tllest building at 1,815 feet (553 meters).

I work right across the street, and my employment gives me free access to the tower. So, I've been going up the tower every Friday just for fun.

The ride takes 52 seconds. From the observation deck, you can see for miles and miles. The neat part is the glass floor. It is rather... disturbing to walk over it. Here are some pics:

If the floor breaks you won't have vertigo for long, after all 1815 feet isn't far to go...! :D

Time to be pedantic..........

The CN Tower is the worlds tallest tower. The worlds tallest building(s) are the Petronas Towers in Malaysia.

A tower differs from a building in that the latter is considered to be a structure that is designed for residential, business, or manufacturing purposes. Also, an essential characteristic of a building is that it has floors. Towers are principally telecommunications towers, and while they may have observation decks or restaurants, they do not have floors going all the way up.

I couldn't help thinking that if London was as covered in ice and snow It would have ceased functioning.

It may be covered in Ice & snow but you may also notice that the streets have been ploughed & are clear.
Whereas here we just chuck some grit down & hope it does the job.

You're right, I should have used the word structure. However, the tallest building used to be the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur. However, Taipei 101 has been the tallest building since October last year. :)

I've been up the Petronas Twin Towers too. If you've seen Entrapment, you can get a very good idea of how it looks inside. :)

I've stood on the glass floor bit and totally surprised myself by not fainting; I even managed to take a picture or two. Strangely enough, my wife was not amused when I told her that a fair number of hippopotamuses could (allegedly) safely stand on it. I wonder why? :)
