Okay, after some of the serious threads that we've had this week, lets have a stupid (but fun) thread... :)

Which one do you prefer?

Weetabix or Shredded Wheat.

Me? I prefer Weetabix. I always found Shredded Wheat way too bland, even with sugar.

Out of the two - Weetabix (raw). I can't stand cereals with milk and Shredded wheat is just plain awful - it reminds me of something cows are fed.

But my breakfast normally consists of either toast, or toast & bacon, or ready brek.

I've been googling without success to try to prove or disprove the old claim that these cereals have a similar nutritional value to the cardboard packet they come in!!

None - I normally just have a plain butty for breakfast, donââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t really feel like eating much in the mornings.

I've been googling without success to try to prove or disprove the old claim that these cereals have a similar nutritional value to the cardboard packet they come in!!

Both are made from wheat, both contain about 11% Protein, 2% Fat & 70-75% Carbohydrate - giving an approx figure for Kcal/100g of 340-360.

Cardboard is pretty much pure cellulose, which is not digestible by humans, but working on the basis that cellulose is Carbohydrate & estimating moisture at 10% gives a figure for Kcal/100g of 360.

However bear in mind that the fibre content of the cereals has not been factored in - at 11-12% it would add a further 44-48 kcals per 100 grams.

So purely from a energy (kcal) point of view the cereals are slightly more "nutritional"

The figures above are based on Kcal =((protein + carbohydrate) x 4) + Fat x 9

at the moment i have a troublesome wisdom tooth
The last time I had a wisdom tooth try to come through I took to biting down on it. After a while it stopped giving me problems, so I didn't need the dentist after all :D . Biting on it hurt a fair bit but after a while I got to like it :disturbd:
....and Graham, that dosn't mean that I want you to try out your wares on me :D

Oh! Almost forgot why I posted.....I don't like either product. Both are like eating straw (not that I've tried but I can imagine)

Weetabix and Shredded Wheat don't have enough roughage for me.:)
I prefer recto-puffs for good steady bowel movement or perhaps ano-wheat for guaranteed bowel movement AND pressure. :Yikes: :D
