i thought i would highlight this item, as it could be of benefit to people who are studying this subject, or for the old folks :D

over 5 million detalied airshots from world war 2, are to be posted on to the internet monday.

"These images allow us to see the real war at first hand," project head Allan William said. "It is like a live action replay."

"They were declassified years ago, but it takes days to find an individual image. Now they have been digitised and will be on the Internet it takes seconds,"

yeh i read that in the sun the other day kronas , they published a few pictures from the archive.....one being the aerial photo of the bismarck in a norwegian fjord allowing the navy to find it and blow the crap out of it......also they published an aerial photo from 1944 of auschwitz and when they enlarged the picture emaciated bodies were apparently clearly visible , also the chimneys had smoke pouring out of them but they never realised the significance of this at the time of the photo.....
shocking......

Here's (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/040118/325/ejq61.html) a link for a picture of the Bismarck.

It looks strange, you can see the boats, but the land looks empty, no sign of any buildings.

I read that the pictures aren't available on the web site until tomorrow.
