italian scientists, claim they have been able to extract the ingredients of red wine, which are beneficial to the human body

they claim freeze drying and compacting the essentials, will indeed provide the same positive affects of red wine, without the alcohol.

they hope to create a pill, for consumers

Sounds plausible. Freeze drying is a fairly gentle method that doesn't involve heating. I can't remember what the health-giving chemicals in red wine are (polyphenols??), but they'll be solids anyway, so if you get rid of the alcohol and water what's left is quite likely to retain any beneficial properties. On the other hand, it probably tastes like dried camel dung.

Well I intend to stick to the old adage that a little of what yer fancy does yer good.

I have no trouble with limiting my red wine intake.

Now my chocolate intake, that's another matter.

Incog. :)

Lol, if they took all the good things out of tetleys it would still be the same pint!!! lol

must admit im not keen on people chemically messing with stuff so would prefer the red wine. But then again you could say making wine is chemically messing with grape juice. oh well who cares lets just get drunk and eat chocolate!!

Hmm, a potential problem here. As I understand it, you shouldn't drink wine whilst eating chocolate as the chocolate coats the tongue and stops you properly appreciating the wine.

They start to taste a lot better half way down the second bottle ;)

Seriously a lot of people - are put off by the initial astringency of some red wines - epecially the drier varieties that have been aged in Oak. As a rule of thumb the "New World" red wines - Californian, Australian, South African, for example, tend to be 'fruitier, than say European reds, some even to the point where they are bordering on sweet - I find 'Blossom Hill' a bit like that, but you might like it?:)
