The server does not support a SSL connection. Account: 'pop.ntlworld.com', Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 SIZE 10485760', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D

Hi all,

Could anyone help with the above error which I get when checking emails?
I've no idea what I'm doing wrong:(

Thanks,
John.

First of all welcome to NTHW jegget.

OK sounds like you may have the Use secure login checked in your account settings.

Go to tools then Accounts in outlook/outlook express or other mail client and check that this option is not selected in the settings for the NTL account.

That should I think resolve the problem.

If not removing and re-adding the account sometimes helps resolve errors assuming this is not due to a problem at NTL's end (see many other threads on the subject. (LOL)

If not I'm sure someone else will post with further suggestions.

Hi jegget

try

tools / accounts / choose 'mail' / properties / advanced - the boxes saying 'this server requires a secure connection (SSL)' should be unchecked, i.e. blank.

As a matter of fact, i know what you're doing wrong...
You are actually trying to use ntl's e-mail "service"...
My advice?
Step 1: go to http://www.hotmail.com (http://www.hotmail.com/)
Step 2: sign up
Step 3: enjoy an e-mail service that actually works...

my post may sound a bit abrupt but my only use for an ntl e-mail address was to sign up for this site :D

Hi jeggett
You can find out what the error means (http://www.domainscape.co.uk/technical_faq/outlookexpress_errormessages.htm) by entering the error number in google
