I have my STB in my downstairs Living Room with output going via coaxial cable to TVs in the Living Room and also upstairs in my Bedroom. What I really want is to be able to operate the STB while i'm upstairs, changing channels etc using the remote control.

I've seen devices which have a sender (you keep in the room your are watching telly from) and receiver (keep in the room with the STB) unit. This gets the remote control signal, converts it to radio, and then reconverts it to the Infra red. These seem to be marketed for use with videos, satellite TV, etc. I cannot find one that works with the NTL digital STB (Pace 1000 type).

Anyone know of anything that works, and who would sell it?

What you need is a Digi-Eye (http://custom1.farnell.com/cpc/search.asp?keyword=AV07698) - not cheap mind.

Alternatively, try a Red-Eye Remote (http://www.redremote.co.uk/) plus an ordinary videosender (often called Digisender)

Thanks - The Digi-Eye looks just the job. May be costly at £51.00 ish, but much cheaper than and extra STB which is the alternative.

Another way is to use a cheaper IR sender/repeater, in conjunction with the Red-Eye Translator (http://www.redremote.co.uk). Although this may cost slightly more initially, it will also allow use of a wide range of universal/learning/programmable remotes in both the main and second rooms, as well as allowing many sat-control-capable VCRs to control the STB.
