I know this issue has been brought up elsewhere but I'm having trouble logging into my email accounts, both sending and receiving. I've had no mail since the weekend, instead getting the error messages

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'my.username@ntlworld.com', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'my.username@ntlworld.com', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I see others are having the same problem but I'm still not sure how to address the issue.

Any steps in plain English to resolve the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly Hi, & Welcome to nthw.

The problem probably isn't your end, it's more than likely ntl's poor excuse of an email service (again)

You could try removing/re adding the account from Outlook/Express, but you will probably just have to wait until ntl get round to offering a reliable email service (I.E don't hold your breath)

sorry Neil but i beg to differ.

Ovalman100 the problem is with your anit virus - disable email scanning will solve the problem

'127.0.0.1' is not an ntl server....

edit: you may need to reype your server settings afterwards

incomming: pop.ntlworld.com

outgoing: smtp.ntlworld.com

Sorry threadbare, I did not fully read your message. I've now updated my "account" to pop.ntlworld.com and everything seems to be working fine. I've only 218 messages to sift through now !

Just a thought if you re-input the server address make sure you didn't use pop3.ntlworld.com the correct address is pop.ntlworld.com I have seen a few make this simple slip because of it being a pop3 server. :)

EDIT looks like the others just beat me :)

Glad it all appears to be OK now.

EDIT Welcome to NTHW btw :)
