Scalextric over the Internet

You're either gonna love this or think it is sad.

Hornby have announced a device that allows you to play Scalextric over the Internet. The article I read is a bit vague, so I am not entirely sure what form it will take.

It sounds like a device that plugs into the track and controls a physical car in much the same way as a human controller would though.

The other end of the device plugs into a PC. Hornby haven't said whether Broadband would be needed though.

Thats all very well but who is going to put them back into the slots when they have gone under the sideboard ?
