Many years ago we re-named ours.

The Mum-in-Law, The Sister, The Titanic,
Mum, AndyCap & Mildred.

(The last one being named after my very first car :) lol)

on our board we chucked away those two cards from community chest/chance that made you pay for all repair work and stuff

and also altered the income tax square between pall mall and mayfair and turned it into, with a biro, inherit £100

i have a very old game of monopoly and the pieces are card pictures placed in small blocks of wood with slits to stand them up.....
one is an express train and the others are ships and cars and planes and stuff....
i also have a limited edition set from about 12 years ago that has gold plated pieces...
they reckon the boards never changed in the standard game though but my old board has old kent road at 40 quid and the newer one its 60 quid....everything else is the same

Each time you play it'll run 5 minutes over and you'll get a hotel on Park Lane in the dying minutes.

I think all the themed ones are fine but you cannot beat the original.
