i thought i would give people a heads up even though it may be nothing for the majorty.........

A new worm is poised to wreak havoc, according to antivirus companies

Antivirus companies are warning of a virulent new worm, Sober.C, which spreads by mailing itself to its victim's contacts.

Although the worm was discovered during the weekend, several companies have since upgraded their warnings. Symantec are describing the threat as a "medium level", while Network Associates, the makers of McAfee, upgraded its threat description to medium a short time ago.

All I can say is daily update checks for your anti-virus software is a necessity. After spending an evening clearing 94 infected files, 2 virus and 4 trojans from one friends PC I can only repeat here what I say to my friends.
"If you are online you must have anti-virus software if nothing else."

"If you are online you must have anti-virus software if nothing else." I can't agree more. Also it is useful to have a firewall installed . This isn't just for Broadband it is useful for Dial up.

My sig line on another forum consists of the following line:
If you have broadband please install a firewall
that will be ammended tomorrow when I have time, too many new users are not aware of the risks awaiting them online:(
