View Full Version : Packet loss when using small amt of upstream

Hi,

Just a quick one. Noticed the modem lost sync last night at around 10:30pm for half an hour. Not sure if they were doing any maintenence work but there was nothing on the status page for my area. Any how, came back online and all seems fine ... U/S power level slightly lower, so that's good.

Any how, if I upload at a small portion of my upstream cap, say 20 - 25Kbyte/s I'm getting about 16-20% packet loss on the connection?

It's not like I'm anywhere near saturating the upstream (only ~40% usage), so should be plenty of room for ICMP/ACKs etc etc. Does this point to an issue, upstream congestion on the uBR, or is this 'normal' on cable?

Would appreciate some help

Thanks
