View Full Version : Terayon Modems no longer compatible
The black vertical standing Terayon cable modems supplied by NTL a few years ago are no longer supported by NTLs system. I know this is true for the Teesside area but may become a problem in other areas too. The symptoms of this problem is the cable modem locking onto the network, downloading an upgrade and then crashing leaving the cable light blinking as if there was no signal.

Interesting... mine is working just fine and I'm in Teesside - TS22 :)
psy, AFAIK, while NTL no longer supply terayons (and will upgrade them), there is nothing incompatible about them apart from the fact they don't support 10 meg (and even then, you just get slower speeds).
It sounds like your modem has died and you need a new one.
:welcome: to the forum, BTW.
Interesting, I just repeated what the Engineer told me, my friend also has the same problem as me with the same modem so I assumed the engineer wasnt lying... I still believe theres some truth in it, maybe it didnt happen to everyone.
Ohh and we are both on the 4meg service.
Thanks for the welcome :)

Whether it's true or not, NTL will need to replace the modem.

Good :)
Nothing wrong with the old TJ210... apart from its 10mbps 1/2 duplex ethernet port :D

is latency reduced when switching to a newer modem?
1/2 duplex on my Lan is definitly slower than full
