Hi all

I'm thinking of buying a (standalone) DVD recorder. :erm:

I saw the one in Sainsbury's, but it seems it's lacking in quite a few features (not really surprising considering the £200 price tag!)

So I was wondering if you had any experince/knowledge in this area, & could give me a few pointers?

Many thanks

N.

Manufacturers always said the DVD recorder market would take off when the price of recorders fell to around that of DVD players. Well expect sales to rocket as Sainsbury's is now offering the Mico Espejo DVDR311 at between £199-229. The machine is a DVD+RW recorder that also records on to +R discs. There's no sign of the iLink/Firewire socket that Mico were promising though.

My parents have a Philips which they say is very good and I have also heard good things about the Panasonics. As for Miko or Mico - I echo the question - who ?

A friend of mine has just bought a Panasonic one from Richer sounds for about £140.
It supports all media and is easy to use.

I think a friend had a Mico Freeview box. It stopped working so I had a look and found that the 3 amp fuse had blown. So I put a 5 amp fuse in. That blew a few weeks later. Told him to take it back. Taiwanese incendiary device. He's now got a Durabrand one, which looks suspiciously like the Mico. Sounds more a prophylactic manufacturer to me :D

There is a forum here http://www.avforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=113

That is the forum for dvd recorders over at www.avforums.com if you look at the top of the forum "show more reviews" there are lots of recorders that have been reviewed, including a Mico.

Regards.
