BT Freestyle 7110 phone

Firstly, let me say I am on Ntlfreedom 1mb broadband.

For the last 2 days my download speeds have been as low as 275kb/sec, at this moment it is 475kb/sec and I am wondering if it is anything to do with the above phone. I bought the phone Mon and connected it Tues morning, reason I mention this is that many years ago when I first went onto the net with Compuserve I had a BT Freeway phone and, whith the phone connected I could only get a 33.6 connection, with the phone unplugged I got the normal 44.8 at that time, so went and bought a new phone.

Has anyone else had problems when using a Freestyle?

What was happening Wed. was while browsing a site that I have been helping with, I noticed out of date pages were being shown, I know this because I had uploaded the updated pages 3 days ago, could that be a proxy issue resulting in low download speeds and not the phone.

Any help appreciated.

1st 512K took 4453 ms = 115 KB/sec, approx 948 Kbps, 0.93 Mbps
2nd 512K took 4359 ms = 117.5 KB/sec, approx 968 Kbps, 0.95 Mbps
3rd 512K took 4375 ms = 117 KB/sec, approx 964 Kbps, 0.94 Mbps
4th 512K took 4578 ms = 111.8 KB/sec, approx 921 Kbps, 0.9 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 950 Kbps, 0.93 Mbps

Nothing wrong with your speed mate, it's pretty much spot on. :)

When you download something via a Browser the speed it gives you isn't always accurate.

The max speed on your connection should show as approximately 128 KB/sec which it does.

I normally get about 976, but above is ok, not complaining about that.

When I first posted I was getting the slow speed as I downloaded a 4 mb file just to check.
Wed morning I sent 2 emails to tech suport with links to adslguide speedtest as that is what they usually ask for, had no reply so thought maybe there is a problem with freedom.

Glad i helped alittle.

One thing to remember though is speed tests can be unreliable because alot of people could be using them at the same time. And when you download a large file to check that server might not be maxing out your connection. But from what you posted yours is very consistant and spot on.

really appreciate your replies, never had a lot of problem with Freedom, just seemed a coincidence.

I have Dan Elwells speed test and that was giving me low results for the past few days, that is what made me think it was the phone.
