New modem tomorrow

I am getting a cable modem installed tomorrow for from ntl so I will have my stb for the tv and the modem for my broadband.

What will I benefit from having this installed? Will I get a better ping on my games?

What did you used to have before.
Alltogether it should be much better than a dial up connection.
Depending on which speed your are having will also make a difference on your upload speed.
You should see the end of all that lllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggg.;)

sorry about the lack of info on my post, I have the 4MB broadband through the stb. Well, used to..... the engineer has now fitted a cable modem. its a little blue one. Quite funky!!

Will this sort any of the lag I have been experiencing on some of my games? I havent tried any out yet, havent had time.

Any tips on tweaking this baby or is it just how it is?

The STB's are known to be unreliable at high speed broadband, because they have to deal with the TV reception as well. It is much better to have a standalone modem.
