So, i think it's time for NTL to do something about their upload speed, what do you think?

For top paying customers of £35 it should be atleast 1Mbps or more but us 10Mbps customers are currently getting ripped off with a 512K upload.

Yep it all seems well and good until you look at the technology involved.

And how many are paying £34.00. Going by the amount on this forum who claim they only pay £19.99 or less, i don't think NTL can afford to upgrade.

Me i would sooner they used some money and fixed the DNS and Proxy's first before pampering to the p2p up-loaders. "Not saying anyone here does that"

theres already a fix for the proxies just flick that switch marked power to the off posisition, and there goes all the proxy issues....

sorry couldn't resist :disturbd:

However due to

A. lack of investment.
B. lack of upgrades.
C. lack of money

There is no way that NTL could turn of all the proxy's. It would kill there under invested creaking network.

What is the technology involved exactly? :dunce:

I agree a better upload rate would suit, but I make do with 512k as not many of my friends have 10mb and uploading steady at 35kbs while on MSN or gaming is fine with me.

I agree, it should really be 10/1, however I also think that so long as the service works as advertised 10/512 for £35 is reasonable and it'll probably be going down pretty soon anyway.

are there any UK isps yet that offer higher then 512kb yet then...not afaik.

this is 1 of the areas that the UK is lacking behind compared to the continent.

i think most of the isps that use adsl2+ offer more than 512kps upload.

ive also seen a few adsl max packages with upto 800kps upload

To be honest i don't think NTLs upload is that bad now, i remember when it used to be 128kps

YOU'RE being ripped off?? What about us BY customers that only get 384k upload!! When do we get an improvement.

There is Be There who offer a 1.3Mbps upload and who are currently trialing a 2.5Mbps upload in some areas.

Sky Broadband & UK Online & other ISPs offer a 768K upload speed.

NTL is lacking with a 512K upload speed on their top package
Telewest is lacking even more with a 384K upload on their top package

Whats this about them upgrading the 10Mbps package to anything between 15-50Mbps before 2006 is up? who cares about the download speed now, do something about the upload.
People who pay £10 less are getting pretty much the same upload as top paying customers.

Jack I totally agree with you there mate....especially if thers going to be another upgrade to say 20 megs then a 512 upload would be a bit crappy (had another word for it but that would've been **** anyways)

I love it. After being behind the USA for a while we are now having the same discussions, see http://www.broadbandreports.com and the forums there :D

FWIW though a ratio of 10:1 is fairly standard there, some offer 10/768k but no less really, and some on 10/768k consider it derisory :)

What are the chances of NTL rolling-out DOCIS 3 kit anytime soon? That'll enable them to upgrade the upstream path somewhat :)
