Hey All.

Just moved house and NTL engineer was around earlier.

The new house was already kitted up with NTL, all cables etc already installed.

Brought all my equipment including cable modem from home and tried connecting earlier, but no luck.

NTL engineer never even mentioned anything about the broadband whilst he was here!

Anyway, I am connected and can access the:

https://autoreg.autoregister.net/cgi/housemove site.

I have tried everything, registering, reinstalling and the BB CD. With no luck. I am all connected just cannot browse etc.

The https://autoreg.autoregister.net/cgi/housemove either says the server is dead or "page does not exist".

Any ideas before I ring the ever so useful NTL Tech Support?

Should I have received a new modem?

Any other ideas?

I appreciate any advice!

Cheers

The modem you have wont be paired with your house address. You will need to ring CS and see what they can do. I think normally you should have a new modem.

I believe the engineer should of installed a modem for you as you can't bring a modem from your old house and use it. Give CS a ring.

you can use the modem from your old address- as long as the account has been put in the housemove process properly there is no reason why this wouldn't work.

So your modem is locked onto it's signal and you can reach https://autoreg.autoregister.net/ ya? but when you try to go to https://autoreg.autoregister.net/cgi/housemove you get a server dead message ya?

Do you get to the entering your user id/ password stage or not? If so, does it hang for a while "processing" before going dead?

Yeah the modem is locked onto its signal fine. I can access the autoregister site with no problems at all.

I can also access the housemove url too. I can enter my username and password, it says validating then after around 20 seconds I get a "Sorry this page does not exist error".

hmm...

enter your details, then press continue.

After about 10 seconds press refresh, and then "retry" on the dialogue box.

This used to be a way of forcing it through. Sounds like what is happening is the connection is timing out before the provisioning server is passing all the correct details to the autoreg server.

I will give it a bash, but I tried something similar already and still no joy.

Will keep you posted! :)

Just seen this on NTL's service status page (http://www.ntl-isp.ntl.com/ServiceStatus/ServiceDetails.aspx?FaultID=549).

On the Morning of Sunday 16th July between Midnight and 6am essential server maintenance will result in a loss of Registration services.

Maybe it's running late, meaning you won't be able to register.

Maybe!

Will give it a try a little later today and if it still isnt working then I will phone the NTL guys/gals.

Thanks for the replies.
