View Full Version : Slow downloads in Portsmouth
I'm trying to download the latest MOHAA patch (old, I know) and the best I can manage is 80k/sec on a 10Mb connection! Tried changing proxies, other sites etc... just seems generally slow. Anyone else noticed?

mojo i am having the same troubles and i live in leeds.
10Mb connection and downloading at about 90kB/s.
what the f*** is going on and am losing my pacience.
Might decide to downgrade to 4Mb but am not sure how i do it.
Im on 10Mb as well, and Id be happy if I got as quick as 90! Im lucky to get 20, and browsing is snail like too.
I'm in Portsmouth on 10MB and my speeds are fine... I'm currently downloading from Fileplanet at 1.4MB/s.
When you download a file there's two factors to consider, your download bandwidth and the host's upload bandwidth. It may just be that the host's connection is saturated and can only allocate enough to you for a low speed.
Best thing to do would be to find a different mirror or try and use a download accelerator that opens multiple connections to the host. DAP would work nicely. Just goodle For Download Accelertor Plus.
Try this and see what your results are like.

Things are back to normal now, although I still get different speeds from different proxies.
The max I have ever managed is 1.0MB/sec, and 1.25 is the thoretical maximum (including overheads). Xorthis, unless you are downloading a massive text file which is heavily compressed, you cannot be getting 1.4MB/sec.

In Leeds.... very slow browsing... downloading at about 28k
I'm in the Southsea area and have noticed that the Homepage does not load up all the info, using IE, also until recently i could not gain access to my second email account!
Anyone else have these problems?
