View Full Version : MySpace connection issues?

Been having problems connecting to MySpace lately - specifically, images not loading. Has been like it for the past 3-5 days. both me and my 2 brother-in-laws can't load images - we're all on NTL, and in two different areas.

Other friends on other ISP's can connect without issue. Is anyone else experiencing similar difficulties?

*.vo.llnwd.com is the domain the images are loaded from...

Cheers!

Same issue. I beleive they are fed from the same set of servers.

I can't believe that NTL are STILL using proxy servers...

Cheers for the heads-up :).

I'm getting it too, exactly the same problem, it definitely stops loading images from that domain, very annoying! Tried changing my cache a few times, to no avail - any ideas on this one would be much appreciated, (Registered to post this).

Am in the Guildford area, fyi.

Thought I'd check this forum to see if anyone else was having this problem - glad to see it's not just me! I'm on NTL in Reading, and Myspace hasn't been working properly (no images on that server loading) for a few days.

I assume this kind of thing happens from time to time - any idea how long it could take before it's sorted?

Cheers,

Stephen H

It's defininitely myspace itself that's stuffed. I've heard similar complaints from non-NTL-using friends.

I've got people who aren't on NTL who aren't having an issue with the site. I've also tried different caches, and I'm now running my own DNS server here, and still can't get through.

I do think it's NTL. I tried some web proxies (atunnel, proxysocket, etc) - they all worked fine (although obviously slower). I wonder if the ever-wonderful ntl tech support will be able to shed any light on the issue .

^That link works great. Cheers!

NTL suck. Actually, on the whole they're pretty good - I just wish they'd ditch their proxies. I can live with their rocky DNS - I can make it work from here. But when every web page comes through their proxy, it makes everything so difficult to resolve :(.

My input on this would actually be not to blame NTL in this case. Well, other for the fact they're still using proxies.

I've had this problem before, BurstNET implimented new Denial of Server hardware, which ended up not liking the fact these ntl proxies were requesting hundreds of pages lots of times, which of course, is just what a proxy server does. In the end, burst finally resolved this by unbanning the IP's it was blocking.

The problem here lays with Limelight Networks. They provide lots of hosting to various companies. Futurenet, the magazine publication (which are sites like pcgamer, and how thewidgetshow.com's podcast) as well as media.podshow.com - which many of you may well use for various podcasts (Adam Curry's Daily Source Code, for example). Also, i believe i'm right in saying all WoW's game servers are on limelight too (but, obviously you wont notice this, cause they don't use port 80.)

Anyway, this issue first came to me last saturday, when trying to download a podcast, and i let Podshow now, finally figuring it out that it was NTL's caches (because i was able to find an NTL cache which wasn't being banned...). Podshow are supposedly looking into it, cause of course this a major problem for them, as NTL users are unable to (majoritively) download stuff from them.

I've contacted Limelight Networks and was told my ticket was accepted and would be replied too within an hour (about 16 hours ago.. mhmm. :P)

Ill keep you updated :)

(They also host all of MySpaces image servers, if not the main site! And, infact, NTL has the same problem back in 2005 with Limelight, according to a google: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/archive/index.php/t-34914.html)

much as I would love to - surely this isn't a good idea to sign in through some 'other' webpage? :Yikes:

Nope WoW's servers in Europe are hosted by Telia, at least all the ones I've used are. WoW uses tier 1 providers unlikely to use resold bandwidth.

No idea who the US host is. Actually yes I do, at very least some of the servers are hosted by AT+T directly.

I've just realised my stupidity :).

Images are loading here for me now, and in more than one browser, so I don't think it's because they're cached on my PC. :)
