What does this mean when people say it. It's really annoying. Do you think people mean it literally when they say it if your being introduced and stuff??

I say it to wind people up :)

They always wonder whether it is good or bad ;)

Could be worse - they could say
"I've read a lot about you on the Internet" :Yikes:

lol
Yeah that would be bad.....or something like "I know alot about you as I've been stalking you".

I normally say "I've heard a lot about you" when other people have talked to me about that person and I'm interested to find out more about them.

Aha....... you read it too? ;) :D

well take it this way, you must be an interesting character if they`ve heard a lot about you.

Let's say the phrase has connotations. Good ones, bad ones; who knows!

It's what people say when they haven't a clue who you are but you look like someone they should know

It is also a post that comes up on different forums under different handles. A cynic might argue it is an attempt to lend credence to a spamming account.

This is the 21st thread you have started, and you haven't posted again in any of them, why is that ?

and his website (business) doesn't have any contact details except eMail - no phone or address. I was always warned not to deal with any online business that would not give a phone number or address.

A little dig in the whois reveals that this maybe a one man band operation, hence the lack of address and phone details.

I get very wary when someone says that to me. I immediately assume it is something bad. Must have a guilty conscience about something. :Yikes:

If I dislike someone after a first conversation*, I like to say (with a smile on my face) "I've heard a lot about you, and I now know that not all of it is true. Nice to have met you - bye!"**

* Doesn't happen often, actually.

** Not to be used with US Immigration officers (armed or otherwise).
