Hi, just thinking of switching to 10meg cable from DSL (due to long line length) and wondered how NTL performed in this area. Gaming is important to me so I would only switch if the ping times were good plus a good download speed always help.

I currently ping 9-10ms to jolt for reference.

Thanks,
hopester

You want a better ping than 9 - 10 ms?!

Im on NTL Cable and get pings of around 20 in game.

17ms to jolt from here (middlesbrough). Not in your area but it does show low pings are possible, even if not as low as what you had on dsl.

I'm in that area, been using ntl cable for a long while and consistently found my pings to be quite respectable for gaming.

Obviously different parts of a town could be wired slightly differently so what works for one person may not work for another.

& BTW :welcome: to Cable Forum :D

edit: just done a ping to their test IP address, came back as 10ms.

\wonders why he might be encouraging someone else onto his local connection and hopes it don't degrade performance :erm:

Not looking for better just something in the ball park. I just did not want to jump ship and find my area suffered high pings :)

Thanks for the replies so far.
