before anyone says anything, been to the GP three times, hospital twice....

well i have a situation at the moment whic has been ongoing for a month, the problem is i keep vomiting, everyday, retching, throwing nothing up sometimes, other times its a wierd tasting acidic liquid..... i also have a loss of appetite, and cannot usally keep my food down, tiredness etc feeling uncomfortable, with some pain and discomfort too...

according to the doctor i have a stomach upset, now the hospital seem to thing its a viral infection/gastroenteritis, i have taken advice about diet, drinking pure fruit juice (stopped as it made things worse), sticking to light foods, eatig rich tea biscuits, drink water only... virtually cutting out soft drinks, fatty foods, sugary foods.

i have tried a cocktail of medications, not all at once ofcourse....

im really at my wits end, being depressed is bad enough but to have all this going on....

does anyone have any other suggestions ?

please :) :(

Tell your doctor you can't keep anything down and you want an injection of travel sickness medication which stops your stomach retching.

When I was at uni and had a car accident, I broke 2 ribs and caught pneumonia (though I was just told "chest infection")
When my temperature came down to 100, they kicked me out of hospital and sent me home.
I woke the next morning vomitting, which bloody hurt!
Couldn't even keep a drop of water down.
My parents called out the doctor and she arrived shortly after.
She said I could have an injection, but while giggling, mentioned it has a side effect in young men where it can cause chest spasms (not good with 2 broken ribs) so I said no thanks. She left a lillet sized suposetry (what? do I look French?) pain killer and departed.
After a day of not being able to eat or drink without vomitting, and not wanting to take the painkiller she'd left, I said I'd have the injection.
So a doctor came out, he jabbed me in the bum and I asked about the side effects.
With a strange look, he said "what side effects? it's just travel sickness medication" and left.

I think you might have to try some supplement drinks (enlive) which I used to drink after I had my surgery abd couldn't eat "normal" foods

Every time you eat or drink something, it feeds the bug and causes the vomitting. The only way round it for me, was to take nothing but dioralite (I think that's how you spell it?) for nearly a week, the dioralite is full of vitemins and stuff your body needs to survive. If it is gastroenteritis? Then you should be starving the bug, not feeding it.

Might it be a stomach ulcer?

On Wenesday morning, I had the same thing. Uncontollable vomiting, even when there was nothing to vomit, I ended up vomiting a yellowy liquid. Also, have been having the runs (don't want to get too graphic here) Was just like water. :disturbd:

Another family member went to the docs with the same symptoms, and was advised to drink nothing but water for about 24-36 hours (no food).

I did this, and eventually, the vomiting stopped, but was still having the runs virtually every hour (or even less). Eventually, that subsided too, to the point where I just had wind. I then tried a bowl of soup, together with drinking water all the time. Everything seemed ok, so I had steak and chips lol

Also had a couple of salad sandwhiches last night, and didn't feel too bad. Until about 5.30am. I woke up and the symptoms resurfaced. Ah well ! Back to water again, this time I thing I'll skip the steak, and gradually work my way back to eating solids. Failing that, I'll be at the doc's myself on monday. :erm:

Don't you worry bonny lad :D You'll probably get both( not at the same time of course,.... unless you're really lucky or going private :D ) and make sure they clean it after the first insertion:mad:

I'm no doctor so don't take medical advice from me.

I had something a bit similar and suffered with it for a couple of years. It was mainly stomach acid.

Doctor couldn't help much.

In the end I've put it down to stress. I now take things a lot slower, avoid stress and I am better for it, I think.

My advice would be to take time out.

But surely if it helps it's worth letting the hospital do a bit of 'camera work'?
Two members of my immediate family have had it done within the past year, my Mum was absolutely terrified. When I went to collect her from the hospital after her procedure, she was dressed and really happy - because it was all over, she was in no discomfort at all and she had absolutely no recollection of what had happened at all - until she saw the photos and results for herself she refused to believe they had done it.
Might be worth considering? At least then you will have a definite diagnosis.

Can you explain what happenes when you are ill from start to end?
The reason i say this is because i was diagnosed with a rare illness a couple of years ago and what i have lead to understand is that when people complain of vomiting they never think to check if it is this rare illness!
also - have you had tests done? if yes then what do the results come back? (Normal or abnormal)

Hmm well I feel for ya, not knowing what to do is a pain in the ****. It's even worse when the Doctors dont know. I am in a similar situation, i have had an Ear infection for 3-4 years, after hundreds of hospital visits and CT scans & various "specialists" they didnt know - until I went to my GP to get something checked out and he confirmed it was "cholesteatoma"

Just a thought, could you be allergic to something your eating / drinking and your guts just dont like it?

Do you eat many greesy foods?
I presume you eat 3 solid meals? Breakfast, lunch, tea?
What about drinks, do you drink like juice or coke / carb drinks??
Could it be an allergic reaction to the current medication you are on??

Look at the basic things, diet is probably the cause, but it could be a infection somewhere.

Do you get sweats & chills at all?
Do you have flue like symptons?

As for the camera's they are evil!!!!!! Pure Evil!!!

they shoved one down my ear and cause horrific pain and everytime I said "stop that" they continued.

Have you tried private? I know it can cost a bit, but doesn your work offer any kind of medical cost covering.. ask you never know!

Kronas,
Dont worry about having a endoscopy done! i had one(down the throat) on the 4th feb and it was the first i ever had.
I had to have a Local anaesthetic because they couldnt put a canuler in.
Usually what happenes is they tell you no to eat or drink 6 hours before then when you get to the hospital they can either sedate you or give you throat spray. If you get sedated they will put a canuler in and inject you with sleepy stuff to put you asleep (light sleep) or if you cant have a canuler they will knock you out completely with gas and put a canuler in then. (whichever way they do it if you are put to sleep they must put a canuler in)

when you wake up you sometimes have a sore throat and sometimes feel fine!
Then you can go home when you have woke up, walked around and had something to eat.
the only thing that happened to me was not being able to wake up! (which was due to the anaesthetic)

Thats basically it.

If you do have a upper or Lower endoscopy i wish you luck!
And i hope you get some answers

When i was 18 i had symptoms same as yours, can i ask if you've lost a lot of weight?

Well if you have might be worth asking to be tested for coeliacs disease (read allergy to gluten or barley or wheat or all of em)

my symptoms continued for 6 months and i had dropped to a skeletor like 6 stone and then finally a bright spark doctor figured it out (coeliacs was not common in the UK at the time)

As soon as i got rid of the offending substances boffing stopped and the weight piled on.

Having at 18 they told me was very very rare because it's either the elderly or babies that get it so when i went for the endiscopy down the throat the room was literally filled with student doctors :S.

but like i say worth having it checked.
