Ever since I have been upgraded to 4Mb I have had a problem with the Google personalised homepage (www.google.com/ig)

I have this as my Homepage and when I open either IExplore(6) or Firefox(latest version) I have to enter a capcha code to get to my homepage.

"
We're sorry...

... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now."

I have antivirus software running - scanned and passed
Spybot - Clean (firewall disabled notification on only)
Hijack This - Checked and clean.

I cannot see any reason for this other than the speed increase.

Any ideas?

It's probably just some people on your proxy with a virus bombarding Google.

Use a different proxy and the problem will probably go away and then a few days later change back. Google is often throwing this page up, as it is often a target.

Thanks for the reply but I'm not proxying. I may try sticking one in and see if it continues though! I'll report back to see if adding one sorts it.

If youre on NTL, youre behind a proxy

The NTL proxies are transparent - they capture all web requests made through the NTL network (i.e. requests on port 80).

You can find out what cache you're on here (http://www.all-nettools.com/toolbox,net) (run the Proxy Test).

Try changing to one of the others in your area (list here (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/cmtips/trancache.html#ntl)).

This is a good thing to try whenever you have browsing problems ;)

It's just started happening to me about 2 days ago aswell, but i've been on 10mb since last year.

I just turned off the personalised google until i could find out what the problem is.

Had the same issues here for the past couple of days. Couple of friends that live locally also. It seems to come and go, last time was a few months back.

I stuck the following proxy into my connection settings and it seems fine now. I am leaving it there for a week or so until it cures itself:

hudd-cache-8.server.ntli.net: 8080
