View Full Version : How do I wire a basic Telewest phone point?

I have bought a new phone wire to plug into an existing (and working!) Telewest phone point in the wall. It is the only Telewest phone point in the house. When I plugged it in it jammed in. In trying to remove it I unscrewed the face of the Telewest wall covering to access the back. Unfortunately the wires then came off and I don't know how to wire them back in. I have 4 pins (labelled 2 to 5), one blue wire and one white wire. Does anybody know which wire goes in where?

If you mean the phone socket (and not the wall mounting outside), then have a look at http://www.wppltd.demon.co.uk/WPP/Wiring/UK_telephone/uk_telephone.html. All UK telephone sockets use the same wiring, so you don't need to worry about that being BT..

:welcome: to the forum, btw.

Be careful messing around with the master socket, because there's always the chance you could get a nasty shock (though not quite as nasty as mains)

In my experience,a few too many people underestimate that 90v:Yikes: :Yikes: :Yikes: .

the voltage of an ISDN or a DACS is worse.
