checked it out and right enough ive got it!!!!!! (im in Carddiff)

I have a 250 modem so no worries there i hope and ive never had any contention problems, so a tests here http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/ is giving me a reading of 3272kbps down and 373kbps up

Lucky you! =[. I'm in the cariff area too. However i'm still on 2mb cos i have crappy ntl 120 modem :(. No config upgrade for that yet.

So much for the extra speed! The way NTL is performing, you may as well be on dial-up!

Will this 2mb to 4mb be for everyone? And is it a free upgrade? (E.g I don't have to pay any more and they'll magically upgrade it without me doing anything)

I'll have to wait, as I have a 120 modem; still, as long as the upgrade works...

The config files aren't ready for the 100 and 120 ntl modems. While all the others are. Thats what he means :).

So this is why the NTL site states that I am now on the 4Mb service, but still can only download at 2Mb?

put simply - yes ;)

nationally the billing system doesn't admit to a 2 meg tier, anymore, but locally we wait for the techs to tweak the hardware ;)

If you have 100, 120 ntl modem and are in cardiff or belfast around that area. Then yes.
