Just done another speed test and it is saying defintely not a type my friend.

21702.1 kbps

and

2659.6 K bytes/sec

I am on 10 meg ntl broadband, my calculations put that figure at over 20 megs. Has ntl done an upgrade on something??

---------- Post added at 07:06 ---------- Previous post was at 07:02 ----------

Just done my third one and it is definitely coming out at over 21 meg for my connection. What the???

Website I am using is ZDNet UK

You guys go and try it and tell me what you get

Try this site
http://www.auditmypc.com/internet-speed-test.asp

Gives me 1.5 MB and 205k upload

I think that all these speed tests sites are wrong. The tell me that I am on like 5mbit line, when im on 10mbit. I know this for a fact, for simply downloading off links on the knoppix site or the gamefiles site of blueyonder. I don't think anyone should rely on these speedtest sites as they are hardly reliable.

and what qualifies you to say that all of the speed tests are wrong?

Well I think speedtests are highly overated, and all the speed tests you linked to on here give me similar results. Half of the speed tests out there most probably don't support 10mbit connections, and it also comes down to how many people are actually using the speed test at that moment.

So which of these speed tests is right??? answer neither, they are rubbish dont waste your time with them.

Its throughput that matters if u can max out at 1200KB/s on a 10mbit line bingo.

Nah my friend you just can't get over 5Mbit due to contention ;) I try the odd one of these from home and a lot of them happily support 20Mbit and upwards.
