1st 512K took 23641 ms = 21.7 KB/sec, approx 179 Kbps, 0.17 Mbps
2nd 512K took 24125 ms = 21.2 KB/sec, approx 175 Kbps, 0.17 Mbps
3rd 512K took 21531 ms = 23.8 KB/sec, approx 196 Kbps, 0.19 Mbps
4th 512K took 25969 ms = 19.7 KB/sec, approx 162 Kbps, 0.16 Mbps

same here - either the system is in meltdown or the speed tests are flooded.

Don't think it is anything to do with the sped test being flooded. I just went to download a bunch of e-mails and gave up due to the time it was taking. I can send ok but here is my result from the Nottingham area and I also am on the 10Meg connection.

Well let's not waste any time or money calling NTL to report any fault or faults because all they will tell you is this:

"It is an 'UP TO' 10MB service"

:D

tele-ic-1 has a long history of pinging highly, so long as the hops behind it don't ping high it's not really a problem :)
