Have you tried using a proxy by any chance?

It looks like you have a problem between your router and modem. Look at your ping times just to your modem alone! The second hop you have put there is cr*p. Everything else is rubbish too from your side, but I just did a tracert to your UBR and it flew through...

akane1984
26-05-2006, 20:46
sorry whats my UBR? . . no i have not tried using a proxy so could this be cause of why am lagging so much on xbox? doesnt make sense how its been working fine for months and months then suddenly lol

UBR- Universal Broadband Router (not a router you use for cutting things up I hasten to add). This is at a local hub site to you, and that's where your modem breaks into the system.

Just had another thought, can you take away your router for a moment and then run tracert again and post back. If you say things have been working fine for months then a sudden drop, just use pc-modem and that's that.

Yes please, this will rule out a possible problem with your router.
From the figures you posted earlier, I obviously see a problem there. But I have ping'd and tracert'd to your serving UBR and it flys through.

I just want to try and rule out a possible router issue is all

Just remember to reboot your modem and release and renew your ip addy. Taking out the router the pc/modem will hold the ip address of said item

Now that's looking a hell of a lot healthier than the first time.

Try and put everything back as it was before. Power down your modem and pc first. Connect your router back and then power up your modem first. Then when that has locked on, power up your router and let that settle, then power up your pc and try and tracert again please, and repost results again

26-05-2006, 21:22
That looks alot better now.
How is xbl now? have you seen an improvement or is it the same still?

akane1984
26-05-2006, 21:25
i will have to load up and see. . but why is speed test sites comin off very low??

thanks mate, so neither modem or router was at fault??

Saneboy13
26-05-2006, 21:31
All depends on what speed site test you are using. Use the one from this site, gives a better reading.

Sometimes it's just a case of something out on the system having a paddy and you needing to reboot modem/router to get things back in line.

No worries, if I can stop the calls to the *coughs* help line by offering a little advice here, then it's all good as far as I am concerned. It also shows there are still people that work for NTL that take pride in their job;)

Nuts:dozey: I have lost my upto date list of proxy servers, otherwise I could have given you one to try out.

What's the upstream levels on your modem? in the address bar typs 192.168.100.1 and when the box pops up put in root and root as user name and password.

Then find out the upstream levels for me please

akane1984
26-05-2006, 21:53
thats cool site lol

Cable Modem Upstream
Upstream Lock : Locked
Upstream Channel ID : 2
Upstream Frequency : 25600000 Hz
Upstream Modulation : QPSK
Upstream Symbol Rate : 2560 Ksym/sec
Upstream transmit Power Level : 42.5 dBmV
Upstream Mini-Slot Size : 2

Saneboy13
26-05-2006, 21:56
If you are transmitting back at 42dbmv then that's all great. Not sure why you are still getting lag though:erm:.

Wish I could find my proxy list.. I am afraid I am a little lost as to what else I suggest you try I am sorry. *Kicking myself* If I had my list I could have asked you to try a different proxy and see if that helps. I am sorry I am at an impass now. Just hope one of the other forum members may be able to take you the next step

Ok try this proxy

In Internet Explorer select Tools>Internet Options>Connections>LAN settings and tick use a proxy server use these numbers 80.3.160.5 Port is 8080

Run Robin Walkers test after you reopen IE

Has anybody mentioned yet that specifying a proxy isn't gonna do anything to alter WOW latency/connection issues, or the speed up the XBL service.

How many more threads do you want to have on your issue Akane1984?

Didn't we speak the other day about cross/multiple posting?

Last warning-do not cross/multiple post.

akane1984
27-05-2006, 11:37
Right i understand whole cross posting thing but guy comes outta his way on this thread to help me and i get warning. if the thread is serving its purpose i dont see whats wrong with it?

am sorry for multiple threads but this thread got lot of help quicker than other one. and only reason i posted one in xbox and one in here is becuase i didnt know which area would be more suitable.see now that i got better responce in ntl section.

thanks for help guys but yes i don't think proxy will sort out latency for xbl or wow. am not sure but ill load up xbox but i think you can set proxy on xbox too. . . .

Edit: just checked you can't set up proxy on xbox

Jon T
27-05-2006, 14:32
It wouldn't help anyway mate, proxies are only there for port 80(webpage) traffic, XBL clearly isn't webpage traffic so therfore the NTL proxies would have nothing to do with it.
