View Full Version : Pop up stopper - what's your choice
What do you think is the best pop up stopper. Can be fee, free or integrated into firewall.
PopUpCop
also might be worth trying out the one built into the new google toolbar (beta)

I don't use a popup stopper per-sey, I have set up a Linux firewall / gateway (from www.clarkconnect.org) which has a nice transparent proxy which prevents popups.
I know it must work because I never see popups.
The only down side (if it is one!) is that you don't get to choose which popups are blocked. But I always see my PM popups, so I'm cool about it ;)
Opera Browser (built in) or the FREE Avant add-on for IExploder (www.avantbrowser.com)

Apple's Safari browser. Built in. Can't remember when I last saw a pop-up.
I'm using the one that is built into that google beta that sits in a taskbar under the IE taskbars. It seems to work fine, and its nice to have google to hand as well.
I use popup stopper http://www.panicware.com/
I tried popup stopper, but it killed my win2k in a major way. (this was about two years ago). I've not touched popup stoppers since...

google toolbar get's the job done for me
Netscape 7.1 has built in pop up stopping with the option to allow specified ones through. Works fine with Win 2k too.
Mozilla Firefox prevents them, so no other popup stopper is necessary.
