How're you connecting to your modem? Usb or Ethernet?

It might be worth downloading the drivers from a website and putting them on a disc, whether it be a flash drive, extrernal drive, cd... etc.

No problems if you're using LAN, don't know about USB

No need on ethernet, as long as you have the driver CD for your ethernet card. If it was built into the motherboard then the disc you have with your motherboard usually has the drivers on it.

If you can find the model of your ethernet card then we can point you in the right direction just in case ;)

Mits Username and password for what?

If you mean your modem they are either root/root or admin/admin.

i checked on device manager under system using control manager.
underneath my network adapters it says
Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Adapter, Copper RJ-45.

Is this the right info.?

Mits As for that i'm not too sure. MAybe someone else can help that with you, i'm a Telewest customer, mine was plug and go basically. No passwords required...

Actually, this driver version is much more recent - http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/NETWORK-CARD/OTHER-NETWORK-CARDS/Marvell-Yukon-Gigabit-Ethernet-Adapter-83523.shtml

The Lan connection doesn't need a driver (except for the one that is for the Lan card).

The username and password will be the one needed to access your main NTL address.

Just a quick point, all will be ok if its a stand alone modem, if you connect via set top box you will have to register the pc.

its a standalone modem... not connected to set top box.

Thanks guys...

Just one thing,
Disconect the ethernet lead before you format
Do the format/install
power everything down,
re-connect the ethernet
Power up the modem and leave until all the lights are steady, about a min
Then boot the pc :)
