I've started using These (http://www.powerpilluk.com/) in my car and in the lorry, I must say they are great, I'm getting an extra 45 miles per tank of fuel plus the lorry and the car run like new, the lorry has done 250,000miles and the car has done 100,000 miles, the cost is £2.60 per tank full so you don't have to be the brains of Britain to work out your onto a winner.

In fact, with the emissions reductions etc. the government ought to mandate it.

My question is - what are they, and what harm will it do in the longer run.

I have this cynical streak in me that says if it sound too good to be true, then it probably is...

Well I've been using them for over 3 weeks now and like I say the lorry runs like it's just come out of the showroom, the car is the same.

Those pistons have been up/down, scraping the bores - which is why engines get smokier as they get older. For that to be 'reversed' the pills have to add something to the fuel that is gumming up the slack.

Fair enough but anything thats going to help with fuel usage is more than welcome IMHO.

OK, I found a site (http://www.powerpilldirect.co.uk/default.asp?page=scientificresults)that includes:

DSIR - New Zealand Department of Scientific and Industrial Research
Analysis - The infrared spectrum of the product showed that it was primarily hydrocarbon in composition. The sample was ashed and found to contain very low residue (0.0004%).
"The hydrocarbon nature of the product makes it extremely likely that it is petroleum derived. The result for ash indicates that the product is free of additives containing inorganic substances"
J W Mitchell - Government Analyst
And other such (typically neutral) statements.

The link you provided didn't offer this 'evidence'. It would be interesting what the RAC/AA thought of this product.

How much faster are you prepared to have your engine wear that still balances the books? Sure - fuel economy is something you feel in your pocket every week. But if the engine goes bang! in 3 months time, have you considered what the cost will be?

As some one who commutes 60 miles every day, I would be most interested in some long term test data on these...
