EDIT - Breaking news: PS3 OFFICIALLY DELAYED UNTIL NOVEMBER IN JAPAN (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3148763) Which probably means 2007 over here folks....

Prepare to cry in your pint though all you PS3 hanger-onners, looks like the Sony hype machines been in overdrive as we suspected.

http://www.joystiq.com/2006/03/14/playstation-3-in-tokyo-tomorrow-sony-confirms/

Sony poked its head out from behind the curtain long enough to confirm rumors that new PlayStation 3 details will be announced tomorrow at a conference in Tokyo. Ken Kutaragi will address the media, analysts, and publishing partners, in what looks to be Sony's last opportunity to discuss the PS3 before Phil Harrison's GDC keynote. GameIndustry.biz speculates that the event will include information about the pricing, launch date and initial software line-up. Plans to officially unveil screenshots for a PS3 version of Untold Legends have already been revealed (note: the images were leaked last week).

Here are the screenies that were already leaked, gotta love the power of that Cell chip.. :p: They are linked to at post 60 (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showpost.php?p=220675&postcount=60), and to be honest this looks like the best one.

Theres a bit of chat about not wether these screenies are real, but about how far along the development cycle this game is.

However, food for thought here and nobody seems to have mentioned it but this console was supposed to be out about now wasnt it? So wouldnt the creators of this game have been aiming for a release about now (assumption!)?

Which would lead you to belive that this is pretty should be pretty far ahead in the development cycle.

Either way if this is all the PS3 could do i'd be very surprised, im waiting until tomorrow before getting the custard pies out.

TBH looking at scaled down screenshots isn't the best indicator. Any graphics card can render great looking images... The kicker is the rate it generates these images, coupled with how well the CPU copes with the gameplay element.

Without that or at least scaled down movies, its hard to pass any kind of judgement yet.

Just read this (http://blogs.pcworld.com/staffblog/archives/001660.html) PlayStation 3 Delayed Until November?

Our colleague, Martyn Williams of IDG News Service, reports today that a business newspaper in Japan is reporting that Sony will delay the PlayStation 3 (below) until the fall.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun paper said that the delay in the PlayStation 3 is due to the late development of copy protection technology for Blu-ray Disc, which is the optical disc format that will be used in the console. Let's hope it's not true, that would be a bitter blow.

Guys as i mentioned in my first post - the key here is that its delayed to November IN JAPAN, which could well mean 2007 here.

The part where you come over like a pretentious chuffer!

Obiously werent interested in what? I never saw what you wrote, my point was to show that it was delayed until november in Japan, where the console is traditionally released first, followed by USA and Eurpoe a couple of months later.

Settle down please peeps, I know everyone's upset that the PS3 has been delayed but let's not start taking that anger out on each other! :)I don't give a crap about the ps3 - I posted information about it for people who do. But obviously it wasn't wanted - it wasn't wanted by someone who didn't even bother to read WHAT I'd posted before comment.

Obviously you don't - but as asked I'm going to stop talking about it now. I think it's best we just leave it at that.

Next time it would be nice of you to ASK me instead of assuming is all.

I think (for the second time) it's best just to drop it.

edit = PM's Sent/Received - all fluffy.... (Or Bunny with pancake :))

I hope this doesnt mean the other copnsoles will be pushed back too.
I was hoping to see Nintendo's Revolution by the end of the year.
I wonder what on earth Sony will be showing at E3 then.

The hardware is probably done, they said that its the Blu-Ray device and the secuity system thats slowing them at the moment (Read its the Blu-Ray only the Blu-Ray part thats stopping them from launching).

This says two things, they can show stuff on existing hardware with a pre-final spec blu-ray drive and that Sony are pushing Blu-Ray so hard, they are prepared to delay PS3 for it.

I am looking forward to the revolution - but only as I like my zelda games.

I would think that sony will be showing a 'nearly complete' ps3 at E3 - as I understand it the main problem they are having now is with the copyright protection technology.

Im prebooking at least two for ebay this year! These will NEVER be in full supply until way after christmas.

Assuming i can afford it mind - it looks like they are after about 450 quid for these things!

Good news for Microsoft and the Xbox 360. Things will now be really interesting as it potentially means that the 360 will have had over a year head start on the PS3.

Hope SONY arnt shooting themselves in the foot making people wait - especially after so much info has been doing the rounds for such a longtime now.

Could this really be Mr Gates prime oppertunity to get a firm grip on the next gen market?

In quite a stunning move which almost had me choking on my 360, Sony today confirmed that all PS3 games will be REGION FREE!

Which means fellas, that you could by a game from say play-asia for cheap as chips and play it over here.

How'd you like those apples!

Stephen

Well some 360 games are region free already so I will believe Sony will follow through. I guess its because they know people will import games anyway, so it should stop people having to chip their consoles so they can play imported games.

i'd always want to buy PAL games though. But if you can get PAL super cheap from Asia without any hassle then it will drive down prices in the UK shops. :)

Okay - here is something a little bit more postitive on this, if not a tad long, i suggest when you get bored just juimp to about a minute from the end and look at that.

This looks a bit more impressive, although it is from Dev-Kits and not from the final product so its still hard to tell if this is going to be final quality graphics or just another fancy render in a box.
