Does anyone know who is responsible for collecting these? And who supplies the replacements. I asked my GP and my pharmacy and they both shrugged their shoulder and didn't have a clue.

I need one soonish as I can't have old needles and bits around the house with my son.

Hi dilli - where are you in the country? I've had a quick Google for this, and it looks like you can arrange it through your local council. For example, Barking council say that 'Your district nurse, practice nurse or home carer can arrange a collection service for you', so it may be worth checking there?

EDIT: I mean it may be with checking with the district nurse, as opposed to Barking council :)

Can your local NHS Trust not give you any answers Dilli, My neigbour takes hers to the chemist when she picks up her insulin prescription.

Try a different chemist. I think many operate a needle exchange scheme for junkies, so they must have a means of disposing of the needles.

[edit] And the award for worst phrasing goes to... :dozey: I meant not to imply that you were a junky, Dilli :D

I've just had a look on the website, and you can apparently ring 08452 304040 to arrange collections.

Dilli - yes the local council should provide a service to collect medical waste.

If not - have I look in your Yellow Pages under Medical Waste Disposal.:tu:

Yeah, I think the bin men pick up the sharps from the accupuncture place I go to.
