Can i have a seperate cable modem

Hi i have ntl broadband through a samsung stb is it possible to have a seperate modem and if so how can go about getting one.Cheeers.:)

I believe ntl will install a seperate cable modem if you request it, but iirc there is a £50 charge for this. What is the reason for you wanting a seperate cable modem?
