Hi, a few days ago I noticed that I can no longer access www.1fcnuk.com, its a website that I update for a friend, I can ftp to it fine, but trying to view it via firefox or IE fails, I can simultaneously access it a work via remote desktop with no problem, we have 2Mb SDSL connection with ntl.

The trace route from home is:

Interestingly tracert still times out but IE and firefox can browse it quickly.

I also have very poor speeds at www.ebuyer.co.uk when browsing beyond the homepage, it sometimes gets there but mostly times out. Again this works fine at work, who are on NTL buisness.

Try http://www.ebuyer.com - same website but bizarrely works better for me (also on 2Mb NTL)

For the first site you mentioned, it opened really quick for me... it could be as simple as manually assigning a HTTP proxy server. Have a look at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/cmtips/trancache.html for more info on this.

Hope that helps

ebuyer always seems to cause problems, running slow etc.

I think its just on a slow server, or one that cannot cope with all the bargains!!

Interestingly tracert still times out but IE and firefox can browse it quickly.

That could be just the server ignoring the ping request, some servers are set to do so (saves bandwidth i guess)..

You could try going through a proxy which may help you connect to certain sites.
