Advice on moving cable modem to new computer

Hi
I need to disconnect my cable modem from my old (W98) pc and install it on my new XP system. I'm not at all technical so a friend is going to help me tomorrow, is there any advice that you could give please.

I get broadband thru my STB, have a USB connection, the origianl CD from ntl says Broadband Installer v1.2 (but if possible I'd rather not install CorrectConnect).

Your stb is allready registered, but you will need the software for the usb, i'm sure someone will be along soon with full instructions on how to do it.

Ps. if the new pc has ethernet, it would be much easier ;)
