Hi,

Anyone else getting this at the moment? For example, www.steampowered.com (http://www.steampowered.com) won't load and i can't login to STEAM for HL2. However, when I put in a proxy in IE, it's working (still can't connect to STEAM though as it won't go via a proxy)

I'm in stockport area SK8.

on to tech support now.

Still not working and NTL tell me to use the proxy which is a useless answer :(

I cannot connect to my STEAM account so can't play the games :( NTL blamed steam but it's blatently a problem their end.

Can someone on here please check that they can get to www.steampowered.com (http://www.steampowered.com) ??? I can't access the site at all and I think that they're connected to each other.

Does anyone know how to make the NTL box give you a new IP address? I tried keeping it off for 1 min then turning it back on and it leased the same IP to me.

Works for me, but I and others have problems accessing certain American based servers, and have done for just over 3 weeks.
The host says its NTL and NTL say they dont block any server ip's. so

Try Using a proxy just to see if you can get there.
Edit>^^^^^ Ingnore that, i read your first post

The Steampowered website works for me in Warrington and I'm routed via Baguley.

*ALL* web traffic on NTL is proxied - you can't switch it off. All you can do is specify which proxy server to use. That said, they only proxy web traffic (port 80) and if your game uses another port, and I can't imagine that it doesn't, then the proxys are not involved at all.

Read all about it here:

I know that already altis - thanks for sharing it though.

Steam has worked fine since HL2 came out back in November 2004 and now it's not working. I've checked www.steampowered.com (http://www.steampowered.com) via a proxy and there's nothing wrong with Steam as far as I can see from their forums etc as no-one else is reporting a problem.

There must be SOME kind of problem from here reaching the steam service, and also www.steampowered.com (http://www.steampowered.com) - I can't see why it would work with the DEFINED proxy but not without it.

Because a proxy sometimes gets a page screwed up. Each time you refresh a page you will end up at the same proxy and get the same bum information. If you define your proxy then, chances are, you will end up going to a different one. That will go and fetch the page and you end up with a better picture.
