modem - sync light

on my modem the sync light is not on or flickering is that ok ? what is that for ?.

The only lights you are interested in are the sync and rdy lights if these are flashing or not lit first try and reboot the modem (turn of power at the plug socket) if that does not work ring ntl faults and they will sort it out.

thankyou for your reply, i done as you said [took the plug out and rebooted]
and now the sync light is on, what is that light for ? what does it mean when its either on, as it is now, or off like it was ?

Both the lights basically mean that you have a good signal back to ntl's BB server. If either of the lights are out you have a 99% chance of having no BB connection, if this happens a lot ring ntl.

I had these two lights lit , but my enet light was on all the time also and nothing from the other two and this gave me no connection, when rebooted all fine and u/s d/s flicking on/off and connection back. What would that have been?

enet light locked - dhcp failure normally.

basically means no traffic flowing through ethernet port. Possible modem software crash.

Does it mean my modem needs replacing if it continues to happen?

the only lights you are interedted in are sync and rdy are solid green....d/s and u/s are flashing (sometimes very fast) and a conection light either usb or enet solid green, and of couse the power light.
