Firstly this is my first post on these forums...so be gentle;)

Ive been on NTL BB since the trial days (4 years ago?) never had any major probs that havent been fixed by NTL, over subcribed UBR being the last major prob which was fixed after much badgering. Anyhows my connection has got very flakey over the past couple of months so I got an engineer in to check things, seems I have a lot of loss on my coax so this is being replaced this coming Tues with lo-loss cable. While the engineer was here I was asking about the Samsung STB which I was using and it seems it cannot go beyond 5MB (Im on 2mb) so looking forward I asked if I could have a SACM to future proof, this he arranged and this was fitted Friday gone. Anyhows since then my D/L speeds have got worse and general browsing is worse with evenings being the problem times, Im holding off calling support until the new coax is replaced but I think looking at the CM configs this modem seems out of the ranges Ive seen posted on these forums if anyone can advise Id be grateful:) :
Cable Modem Operation Configuration

Network Access : Allowed
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 1024000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 100000
Maximum Upstream Channel Burst : 1600
Maximum Number of CPEs : 1
Modem Capability : Concatenation Enabled, Fragametation Enabled, PHS Disabled

Cable Modem Downstream

Downstream Lock : Locked
Downstream Channel Id : 1
Downstream Frequency : 586750000 Hz
Downstream Modulation : QAM64
Downstream Symbol Rate : 6952 Ksym/sec
Downstream Interleave Depth : taps12Increment17
Downstream Receive Power Level : -12.1 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 26.6 dB

Cable Modem Upstream

Upstream Lock : Locked
Upstream Channel ID : 2
Upstream Frequency : 28800000 Hz
Upstream Modulation : QPSK
Upstream Symbol Rate : 2560 Ksym/sec
Upstream transmit Power Level : 48.0 dBmV
Upstream Mini-Slot Size : 2

The main config appears to say Im on the 10MB service which I know you dont get on the 2MB service:erm:

Here's a speed test I just did to show how crap it is here:

Sun, 29 Jan 2006 13:50:01 UTC

1st 512K took 4281 ms = 119.6 KB/sec, approx 909 Kbps, 0.9 Mbps
2nd 512K took 4406 ms = 116.2 KB/sec, approx 883 Kbps, 0.9 Mbps
3rd 512K took 4251 ms = 120.4 KB/sec, approx 915 Kbps, 0.9 Mbps
4th 512K took 4265 ms = 120 KB/sec, approx 912 Kbps, 0.9 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 905 Kbps, 0.9 Mbps

Anyhows do you think I should wait until the re-cabling has been done or do I have setup problems with this modem which wont be affected by the new cabling?

Thanks in advance

The information you have included shows you are on the 1Mb service, so your speeds are exactly as they should be.

Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 1024000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 100000

If you are supposed to be on 2Mb give them a call and ask them to check your operational account.

hi :welcome: Manc

it seems you are on 1mb by those logs. if u was on 2mb wen u was on stb then a call to ntl is needed.

if u was on 2mb it should be reading

Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 2048000 bps
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 200000 bps
